Swans in Flight

Swans in Flight (1968)

Bronze sculpture by David Wynne

'Swans in Flight' is a composition of five swans in progressive poses, rising from the water to full flight, which was originally drenched by a 24m jet of water. The group represents the City's long established links with the five Scandinavian countries and is connected to Seedorf Pedersen's mythology-inspired poem 'The Swans from the North' in which each Scandinavian country was represented by a wild swan.
